About Pete Harper
Pete Harper is the creator of Imagination Press, a family of coloring and activity books made to help kids learn, laugh and create. Imagination Press is a small, independent imprint based in Miami, Florida.
The books were made for the kids in Pete's life, who always wanted one more drawing. That is where the Imagination Press friends come from: Rusty the Fox, Maddie the lemur, Illy the pup, Ally the Gator, Rigo the Goat and a whole herd of dinosaurs. Illy is based on a real dog.
Today there are 8 Imagination Press books on Amazon: big, easy coloring books for little hands, Valentine's Day books, and learning books for letters and spelling. Every page is designed to be simple enough for small hands and fun enough to come back to.
How the books are made and sold
- Every book is a paperback, printed on demand and shipped by Amazon.com.
- The house style is one big subject per page with thick, closed black lines and no shading.
- Most books print each design on its own sheet with a light pattern on the back, so markers do not bleed through.
- The same friends show up book after book, so kids can color characters they already know.
Pete's goal is simple: every child who opens one of his books should close it a little more creative, a little more confident, and smiling.
